Dear Current PADE Members:

Nearly one month ago, roughly 110 of us met at the Radisson Hotel in Harrisburg to formally celebrate our 40th Anniversary.  It was a great conference on many levels, a wonderful keynote, a special evening reception, exciting awards presentations, wonderful sessions, and much more.

We know that the construction and the repairs at the hotel created some interesting challenges for everyone who attended.  We did not know the hotel was going to be in this state when we arrived nor did the conference center staff.  However, thank you for toughing it out with us and giving us your feedback.  Because of this, the conference leadership team was able to renegotiate our terms with the hotel and the conference staff of the hotel made some accommodations for us.

For those of you who attended, we are certain that you remember Dr. Michelle Asha Cooper’s powerful keynote presentation.  For all our membership, her power-point is attached.  This summer we will be posting it on the new PADE website; however, we wanted you to have first access to it.

One of the biggest things PADE is considering is a possible name change.  With NADE now NOSS, the board is listening to various opinions, and while we requested feedback at the conference, we do want all members to feel they had input.  Here is a link to a brief google survey on a possible name change: The survey will close on May 31st at 7 pm.

Finally, we are requesting nominations for the following positions that are up for election.

Four-Year Public (1), Two-year Public (3), At-Large Member (1). Treasurer (1) SW Regional Rep. (1), NW Regional Rep (1), SE Regional Rep (1)

Current terms and responsibilities can be found on the PADE website:

If you are interested in nominating someone or entering the election yourself, please email the PADE Secretary, Sandy Harrill, at by May 15 at 5 pm.  Elections will be held shortly after the nominations have closed.

Please do keep in mind that PADE is in the process of going through a board reorganization.  This reorganization is based on lots of input from over the years, and the board is working on reshaping itself to be even more effective.  As a result, this is a wonderful time for you to be involved to help shape the future of PADE for the next 40 years.

Best wishes to everyone as the academic year comes to an end.

Michael G. Spinks & the rest of the 2018-2019 PADE Board
